Offering a quiet, restful setting for golf, the Breton Golf Club can easily be reached from both Leduc and Drayton Valley along Highway 20. The course welcomes all visitors and prides itself on its pressure free atmosphere. First begun by a local group of enthusiastic golfers in the early 1960s, Breton has undergone many improvements over the years. Most recent was the construction of the Centraplex, a full featured recreation facility which contains the course’s pro shop, lounge and dining area, along with a dance studio and a skating pavilion. Playing through tall stands of birch, poplar and spruce, Breton’s fairways are home to much wildlife including deer and many varieties of birds. With few hazards, play at Breton is straight ahead, but golfers will still have to keep their drives on target to stay out of trouble. This is most true on Breton’s signature hole, the 425 yard 7th. Not overly long for a par five, this hole requires accurate shot making, especially on the tight approach to its green.
